Nestling — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 28 July 2026
Short version: The Nestling
app is fully
offline. All of your data stays on your device. We do not collect, transmit,
sell, or share any personal information. There is no account, no server, no
analytics, and no advertising in the app. The Nestling
marketing
website (this page's site) uses privacy-respecting, consent-based
Google Analytics — see
About this website below.
Who this applies to
This policy covers the Nestling mobile application
(Android package com.allanweber.nestling), referred to as "the app".
The app is intended for use by parents and caregivers (adults) to track an
infant's feeding and related care.
About this website
The Nestling marketing website (the landing page hosted at
this domain) is separate from the app. Unlike the app, the website uses
Google Analytics to understand basic, aggregate visitor
activity — such as page views and which country visitors come from — so we
can improve the page.
-
Analytics runs only after you give consent. When you
first visit, a banner asks you to accept or decline; Google Analytics and
its cookies stay disabled unless you choose "Accept". This uses Google's
Consent Mode, and your choice is remembered on your device.
-
If you decline, no analytics cookies are set and no analytics data is
collected about your visit.
-
This applies to the website only. The Nestling app itself
contains no analytics and transmits nothing off your device, as described
throughout this policy.
Google Analytics is provided by Google LLC; its handling of data is governed
by Google's Privacy Policy.
What data the app stores
The app stores the following information locally on your device
only, so it can show your history, reminders, and reports:
- A baby name or label you optionally enter.
- Feeding records (type, amount/unit, date and time).
- Diaper-change records you log.
- Reminders you create and their logs.
- Your settings: measurement unit, reminder interval, alarm sound and
volume, and light/dark theme preference.
This information is saved in the app's private on-device storage. It is not
transmitted to us or to any third party.
How the app uses this data
The data is used solely on your device to provide the app's features:
displaying your feeding history and daily report, calculating and firing the
"next feed" reminder, and remembering your preferences. It is never used for
advertising, profiling, or analytics.
Data sharing
We do not share your data with anyone. The app contains no
advertising SDKs, no analytics SDKs, and no third-party services that would
receive your information.
Backups and exports (under your control)
-
Manual backup / restore: You can export all app data to a
JSON file and import it back. You choose where that file is saved (for
example, your device storage or a cloud drive of your choice). These files
are created only when you request them and are controlled entirely by you.
-
Android Auto Backup: Android may back up the app's data to
your own Google account's backup storage, a standard operating-system
feature that lets your data restore after reinstalling. This is handled by
Android and your Google account, not by us, and we have no access to it.
Permissions and why they are used
- Notifications — to show the "next feed" reminder.
- Exact alarms & full-screen intent — so a due-feed
reminder can reliably ring at the right time and appear as a full-screen
alarm, even over the lock screen, like a clock alarm.
- Foreground service (media playback) & wake lock — so
the reminder can play its sound and vibrate reliably even if the app is
closed or the device is idle.
- Vibrate — for the reminder's vibration.
- Run at startup (boot completed) — to re-arm a pending
reminder after the device restarts.
None of these permissions are used to collect or transmit personal data.
Children's privacy
Nestling is designed for parents and caregivers (adults). It is not directed
to children and does not knowingly collect any information from children. The
app records information about an infant that the adult user enters,
and that information never leaves the device.
Data retention and deletion
Because all data is stored locally, you are in full control. You can delete
individual records within the app, and uninstalling the app removes its
on-device data. Any backup files you exported, or any Android/Google account
backups, are managed by you through your device and Google account.
Security
Your data resides in the app's private storage area on your device and is
protected by the device's own security model. Because nothing is transmitted
off the device by the app, there is no server-side data for us to secure or
to be breached.
